Does it work? --> Confirmed. It works.

Go to level 4-7 and grab some Huffin Puffins. Go through the level until you reach the area with the flying edible ghost-guys, which should be right after the koopa and huffin puffin tunnel place. Now, stand by the left wall and shoot an egg upwards. A big jump ball will fall down. Jump up and you'll reach a platform with another jump ball. Now, when you jump off of this, head as far to the left as you can, so that you exit the area by the left edge of the exit. Normally you'd end up in a bonus place with a balloon, but if done correctly, you'll end up falling in the middle of nowhere, with glitchy red blobs following you instead of Huffin Puffins. Keep on falling and you'll die, maybe even grabbing some unseen coins on the way. But, head to the very right until the screen starts to shake weirdly and then go back and forth between the left and right. You may end up in the first level if you do this correctly. It seems as if the nowhere-land is connected to the first level, but you're super high-up, so it's as if you're falling into death, and not the first level.

First, do the Stuck flying in the middle of nowhere glitch and do it so that you end up in the first level. You'll still have the weird Huffin Puffins with you - make sure you bring them along and conserve them. Now, jump under any message block and a blank message will open up briefly. Now, throw a Huffin Puffin at the message block so that it hits it more than once. The screen will glitch up, in different ways, depending on your game. For most, the text box will remain on the screen.

For my game (and possibly others'), many of the sprites became invisible (you weren't able to see Yoshi, ? clouds, or enemies. Also, the different layers of the image got switched (some background images may become parts of the foreground). You could no longer enter pipes, make eggs (it acted as if all enemies were the non-egg-producign type when swallowed), and you could not shoot ? clouds. You could, however, see and collect coins. If you lost baby Mario, then he would also be invisible, but he would never die - you'd never lose any star power. But, he does follow you around. If you finish the level (going through the invisible goal), then the screen blackens and the game freezes.

So, as you can see, a variety of things can happen. Beware - your game may become damaged after trying this glitch

Mario dying when he shouldn't

Does it work? --> Unconfirmed. We'll check this out soon.

If you don’t have the baby Mario with you, you can’t morph into a vehicle. You can, however, have Mario stolen right after you become a helicopter when he’s meant to be invulnerable. In level 2-7, Lakitu’s Wall, turn into a car and get to the place where you drop from the small ledge right after the turning platforms. Go left after the fall, stand on the yellow drop platform, and go right to become normal Yoshi again. A small way to the right, there’s a large jump ball. Above it is a small red bridge with little spiky guys on it. Jump into a spiky guy, lose Mario, and avoid both his bubble and the helicopter bubble. Run back to the left and the platform, stand on it, and wait next to the jump ball. Mario’s bubble will float down the shaft and almost reach you, but not quite. Don’t touch it. When you see the little henchmen come down and grab the bubble, use the jump ball to catch up with them. (If you’re too late jumping on the ball, they’ll get away and you won’t have a chance to get up high enough to keep up with them...so you’ll die.) You should catch them just about at the helicopter bubble, and Yoshi will take Mario back. Touch the helicopter bubble this time and Mario will revert to his "safe" bubble stage as you become a helicopter... only right after your transformation, the henchmen will grab the baby, steal him, and you’re down a life.
