Go through Brinstar Depths

Does it work? --> Confirmed. It works.

Go to Brinstar Depths as any character, but preferably one that can jump high or float. There are two times in which you can jump through the ground of Brinstar Depths and go inside of it. The screenshots help give a guide to where you can do this. The first area is where the rightmost pole/building-thing meets the ground, when it is stationery and at the bottom, to the right. The second place is where the leftmost pole/building-thing meets the ground, when it is moving from the left to the lower-left. Once you're inside, you can end up on another side of Brinstar Depths if you can get through the surface. However, if you run out of jumping power before you reach there, then you will fall down and die or get caught by a platform.

Note: This may not work if you have the wrong version of the game.
Does it work? --> Confirmed. It works.

Be careful... doing this will permanently replace your previous high score, and you won't be able to beat this score. So, it's recommended that you copy your game. Now, go to Adventure mode as any character (but it's most difficult as Jigglypuff). Now, get near the end of the level and until the timer goes very low (less than 1 minute; as low as possible), break your shield. Break it as many times as you can (hold R and then your character will snap and become temporarily stunned). Then, when the time is almost up, cross the finish line. If you broke your shield enough times, your score will be negative (you will receive -2000 for every time you break your shield). However, as the programming goes, the total score can not be negative. So, instead, it will loop around and give you a score of 999999999. You don't need to do much to retain this score until the end of adventure mode. Just, don't lose all your lives, and don't get a negative score, because both of those will subtract a lot from your total.

Check out that score! Woohoo! Note the negative numbers on the screen.
Now you too can have supreme bragging rights

Go to a moving level as Peach (Rainbow Cruise or Icicle mountain... possibly others). Have her float (press and hold the jump button). She will follow the screen even though she's not supposed to be moving!

Have a character grab a spinny thing (that makes you do the Samus attack) and throw it at Bowser. Now, press pause quickly when you can see Bowser and he's out of his shell. Look at his hands - they're disconnected from his wrists!

Look - his hand's not attached!

Mario cheats the target test

Go to the Mario target test. Now, move to the left and jump onto the platforms that are going downwards. Notice that there's a small crevice where you're supposed to shoot a fireball to get a target. Well, with some good timing and a combination of jumps, up+B's, and dodges (L), you can get into that small area and hit the target yourself. There's not much you can do, but the roofing to the small path is messed up; your head pops through it.
