Negative World

Does it work? --> Confirmed. It works.

Here's how you can go to the minus world. You must be at least big for this to work. Towards the end of level 1-2, there is a pipe sticking out from the wall. Stand on top of the pipe and break the second block from the right. This next part may take a bit of practice. Facing left, jump up where you broke the block and try to move right, but not breaking that one brick by the wall. You want to hit the corner and sort of go through it. If done right, Mario will walk backwards for a little bit through the wall, and over to where there is normally a warp zone. The pipes will have piranha plants in them and the pipes won't say which pipe is which. The pipe in the middle is 5-1, and the pipe to the far left is -1, and I think the pipe to the right is also -1. Once you take the pipe to the left, you'll be in -1. There's nothing good there. It's a water board, with a pipe at the end. The pipe takes you glitchishly back to the beginning of -1, so it never ends. There are also other negative levels, zero levels, and letter levels which you can get to through game genie codes.

Zero World

Does it work? --> Unconfirmed. It exists, but how do you make it happen?

There is a zero world that was left in the game, probably after testing stages. However, it may be impossible to get to it through normal means. You can supposedly get to the level with a Game Genie (code: YSAOPE + YEAOZA). Also, if you use the emulator Nestopia, you can get to the level through doing a "Hard Reset" a couple of times. But, how do you emulate this hard reset in real life? Some people have had this level come up when they turn on their games for no apparent reason. The main screen looks normal, except it says (0-1) at the top. The level is a water level, with water inside of water (the image for the tops of water is in the actual water) and the level is sort of maze-like: if you go the wrong path, you get to a dead end with no way out. To get through the level, stick to the bottom. Once you get to the end, you'll find a Bowser area underwater, with no Bowser. Grab the axe and you'll walk forward and the words that go something like,"Mario, thank you! But our Princess is in another castle!" will appear with no Toad. Then press B and you'll get out of the level. Strange, eh? One very interesting observation made by Clark Beyer - the level appears to be a castle, just underwater! The walls may have been positioned like a castle's walls, and the water under the water may have been lava. Strange, eh?

Small and Fiery Mario

Does it work? --> Confirmed. It works.

Get a fireflower and reach any Bowser. Now, as you fight him, try to hit on the axe at the same time that he hits you with a fireball. He'll die, and if you did it correctly, you'll still be big as you walk over to Toad. Now, when you get a mushroom and fire flower, you'll be small but able to shoot fireballs.

Climb in thin air

Does it work? --> Confirmed. It works.

Open up a vine and then jump onto it quickly and climb up as fast as you can. You'll climb above the vine and be climbing on thin air. One good example: the vine in the two rows of horizontal blocks right after the spring board in World 3-1.

See - he's climbing above the vine - wacky!

Does it work? --> Confirmed. It works.

In any of the castles except the last one, as Fiery Mario jump on the axe and Bowser at the same time. This may take a few attempts but if done succsessfully, Mario will turn back into Super Mario (powered up, with a mushroom). In the next level if you get a mushroom, you will shrink and if you get a Fire flower, you'll turn into a Mini Fiery Mario. If you get hurt while you are small, you'll become big. If you get hurt while you are big, you will die. This effect will last until you die.
