Go to stage one (Bob-omb Battlefield), star 3. Run up to the most northeast portion of the level (where Koopa the Quick is after you beat him) and find the corner of the level where the two grassy hills' walls meet. Line yourself up with the corner and do a long jump up the corner, but try to make it only a little over halfway up. Then, jump again, except this time have Mario jump onto his stomach. Slide up the hill towards the sky still lined up with the corner and if you reach the very top, turn a little to the left and you should start sliding in place. Change the angle of your camera and you'll see that you are out of the level, floating in the sky. To get down, just change Mario's direction so he is facing the level.

Note: This requires messing with the hardware while playing the game. It has the potential to hurt your game or your game system.
Does it work? --> Unconfirmed. We'll check soon.

Start up the game and as soon as the "Super Mario 64" logo appears, push and hold the reset button on the Nintendo 64. Wait a few seconds and Mario will say "Its'a me, Mario!" You can also wait until he starts saying it, and then push reset halfway through. He will continue to say it for a few seconds after you push and hold reset.

Go to the room where there is a big mirror (where the invisible snow level is) and punch the mirror. A bunch of yellow particles will show up where you punched the mirror as they normally would, but they won't show up in the reflection.

Make Mario freak out while leaning backwards
Discovered by: Mitchell VanRassel of CGS
Exciting-ness scale: 3? out of 10
Note: This involves pulling out your cartridge while playing it. Be warned, this could cause damage to your game.
Does it work? --> Unconfirmed. We'll check soon.

Start a game and when you are able to walk around, slowly lift the left side of the game cartridge until you hear messed up sound effects. If Mario hasn't started leaning back, pull the cartridge up on the left side a little more. He will lean on his back, the sound will become warped, and he will randomly jump around and then move back to where he was before.

Flying while dead

Does it work? --> Unconfirmed. We'll check soon.

In Shifting Sand Land, Course 8, go to the Bob-Omb buddy if you haven't opened the cannon yet. Open the cannon, then injure yourself down to a little less than 50% health (two bars works best). Get into the cannon with a Wing Cap. Then shoot as far up and left as the crosshairs can go. If it was positioned correctly, you'll hit an invisible wall and fall staight back into the cannon! Shoot out and you'll fly around with the Wing Cap on and no power left. You'll continue to fly around until your Wing Cap disappears.
